![]() We may not like to think about it, but the average 'gamer' is your super casual cod/sports bro who only buys maybe 2-3 games a year, one of which will be the latest cod/shooter/sports game and the others will likely be whatever new GOTY contenders are that year. Gaming forums, especially ones that are more about discussing games like this one will attract the 'hardcore' gamers, aka anyone who spends more than a couple hours a week interacting with anything games related. It's mostly due to a filtering of specifically who visits this and engages in this subreddit. Workrooms is built for this - it leverages good (at least as far as 2022 standards) UX design. I've spent more than 1000 hours in VRChat, and as amazing as it is, it's not a good work interface in it's current state. I know some people will say "Why not just do work in VRChat?" Trust me. Horizon Workrooms on the other hand is actually not too bad. So Horizon Worlds specifically is a bad bet on their end, until they actually start to make some serious design changes. The idea that avatars shouldn't have legs if they aren't being physically tracked, that you can't get close to someone due to a mandatory bubble you can't toggle off, and the corporate sheen on display. They built Horizon Worlds with what is almost certainly the wrong set of standards. There's the other side where their current user-facing software, Horizon Worlds, is clearly far behind everything else in the VR space. There's one side to this where Meta knows that the metaverse isn't meant to even exist for another 5 years or so - Zuck said this himself in the big presentation they had, and so their expectations for metaverse adoption are late 2020s. Sending the medium back into what ever is below niche. I'm worried that when the Metaverse doesn't become a Capitalist Utopia where people are perfectly happy being bombarded with adds, and throwing endless money at easily reproduceable digital goods, that Meta will push the breaks on their development of future VR tech and hardware. ![]() While there is no love lost for me with the death of Meta's Metaverse (Index User), I can't deny that a healthy userbase is what keeps mediums alive, and VRs userbase is primarily on the Quest 2. Which anyone in marketing will tell you is even worse than outrage. With a response from users being a resounding lack of enthusiasm. Not that it is falling flat on its face by any means, but it's been pretty clear that their Metaverse was being built with advertisers and distributors in mind before the actual users. However it does seem like Meta's vision for their "Metaverse" isn't going according to plan. Which is impressive since it did so without a dedicated core fanbase like Nintendo has. The Quest 2 really hit that same kind of sweet spot that the Wii did back in 06. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
